No problem. The fact that you responded and are well is all that matters.

FigureditoutHace 10 meses#71950195Yeah, that's true. However, I feel like for figures they really stepped up their game. When you compare a 2009 release to a 2014 release to a 2019 release they just keep looking better and better, and some typical things people always used to complain about seem to be addressed more frequently by figure makers, such as using metal pins instead of plastic, or putting accessories separately into the box to prevent them from breaking off. I also feel many manufacturers don't add those plastic supports for one legged poses anymore while they used to be mandatory to prevent leaning. They have also been really innovative in terms of paint. The whole idea of the soft touch paint, or wet eye effect has only arisen a few years ago. And then there are completely new technologies (with all their flaws lol) being used by the company B'Full in form of 3d printed figures.

Great comments! I love to learn from more experienced collectors. Thanks.

FigureditoutHace 10 meses#71950195Anyway, the prices for new figures have exploded and keep rising. It is only natural the big names are trying to meet high expectations of the customer base. Many companies seem to have a really good quality control as well and weed out imperfect figures, others not so much.

You are right. I can't believe the prices of some of these new figures. Many of them are out of my price range but I guess at some point I might be at the stage where I'll feel comfortable buying a $200+ figure. If I had an unlimited budget, I'd buy the pricey Purple Heart and Black Heart figures but that's not reality.

That's a contrast from most production processes these days where products are often produced more cheaply than years ago and products manufactured these days often don't last as long as years ago.

Thanks for the insights, Figureditout!

As far as transfer of colors, I received a new Max Factory-made figure of Altria Pendragon earlier this week and they had a small instruction and warning manual enclosed. It did warn that color transfers can happen if you keep a figure touching something else for too long so I guess it isn't just the cast off figures that have this problem. The other things that they warned about were excessive heat and humidity potentially damaging the figure. They didn't warn about excessive cold but your comment about cold does make sense to me.

Good answer on the question about the lifespan of figure. I'm sure if they are well cared for they can last a good amount of time, just like the old Lionel trains that my Dad has. Those old trains are in pretty good shape despite their age. One thing I wondered, however, that one of the comments addressed is how good the production process is for the figures. The commenter indicated that he thought the production processes were better now than ever before. That's a contrast from most production processes these days where products are often produced more cheaply than years ago and products manufactured these days often don't last as long as years ago. Things like refrigerators, for example.

It is pretty easy to sign up for that club (just go to the club page and click on the join button at the upper right) and that allows you to post on the club forums. I'd certainly like your participation even if it is only occasional comments. You can also leave the club whenever you want by clicking again on the same button.
