Just noticed that some of his armour was going green, came here to check if it was just me.

Really sad they spent so much effort on making this figure and charged so much, and it ends up having such a major defect like this.

Antonius2004 (Hace 1 mes) #44625719HEY! My Gil is doing the same thing! Green here and there, not all over though... His legs seem to be fine, but his pauldrons, his back and his chest are all going green... What did GSC have to say about this? Any fix for it?

They basically said they couldn't offer a replacement (I didn't expect one) because of the age of the figure and said that because it had been so long I couldn't prove it was a factory defect. They linked their painting/fixing tutorials and left it at that. I've pasted their response below:
    "Dear Customer,

Thank you for your continued support of Good Smile Company products.

This is in response to your inquiry.

As a result of close inspection in accordance our customer service policy, since a fair amount of time has passed since the product was in your possession it is difficult to consider the possibility that this is a factory defect. Therefore, we regret to inform you that we cannot offer you a replacement.

And regrettably, we do not sell any extra parts of our products. Those are our company policies.

We are terribly sorry that we cannot help you on this matter, but your understanding would be greatly appreciated.

Please check website below, if you want to repair by yourself.

I sent them another message after this, explaining that I didn't think it was a factory defect but rather a durability issue with the paint. I noted that I understood that companies generally don't test durability of things like this over years, but that they might want to reconsider if they are planning to use this particular paint again. Googling makes it sound like gold-colored paint often has brass in it and therefore tarnishes like it does (Although the information I found claimed it was less likely now than it once was--maybe they went with a "cheaper" paint?) The things I read also made it sound like a clear coat can be sprayed on to slow the oxidation process. I always thought figures had some kind of clear sealer, so maybe it wasn't applied uniformly?

I sold all my Fate figmas, so I don't have him anymore, but I'm going to be paying very close attention to ITEM #166890 and ITEM #396841. Even though it's unlikely they'll replace it, I would suggest that you contact GSC as well so that they know this isn't an isolated paint issue. Hopefully they will take it into consideration when planning future figures. (sorry for the long response, lol!)
