How does one put together garage kits? Are there any tutorials or directions online anywhere? If you have any info on this please PM me.

shinhawk (hace 6 años) #1488621I've always laughed at people who obsess over the status and so-called prestige of their collection and hobby. Its clear some people are more concerned with showing off.
If it's obvious, yea, I'm with ya on that. Sometimes though, you can't help but to show off. I've seen some amazing cel collections and I've offered to buy some no limit, but they refused. It was almost like teasing, but I understand being a collector myself. Sorry, I'm completely off topic.
Basically, if someone invests so much money and time into their hobby, I have no choice but to respect them as a collector. Of course, depending on WHAT they are collecting, I may not care...

Do you seriously think that people who buy recasts don't put as much time and effort into assembling them as those who buy ~authentic~ kits? And all of that effort is worth nothing? Well, I suppose that's true, if all you care about is the dubious status symbol of owning an original kit or its supposed increasing value (which isn't going to be much if you've assembled it poorly), not the enjoyment of putting it together or the quality of your finished figure.

Chris (hace 6 años) #1420814No, I in fact hold workshops like Gathering in high regard quality wise. That is however, irrelevant to the point in question -
Put up your $40 recast that you spend a year majestically painting on eBay and let me know how that worked for you.

    Gonna follow up on you.

If you're proud of owning recasts, that's fine. I have a bunch of them, from before I knew about bootlegs, but they really do lack in quality, weight, and density than the authentic ones. Some of em have so many creases and bad seams, sanding and modifying becomes more important and time-consuming than painting.

Assembling and painting for enjoyment is all good and all but its only value will be your own sentimental worth plus the labor. Just because an authentic kit is assembled poorly doesn't deny the fact that it's worth more. You can always strip away the paint and redo it. I myself am more proud of my authentic kits way more since most of em come in a nice package and are higher quality. People pay way more for it, and if you think that they're similar, or have only slight differences, you're ignorant.

Yeah they look nice but like I said, we can't parade around like proud owners like others who put a ton of effort into the authentic kits or those who purchased the pre-painted version 2. While their values increases daily ours are worth nothing by the end of it.

Strife212 (hace 6 años) #1307755I've got one, it's good quality, be advised that it's a bootlegged kit though.

I see... Thank you for the quick reply. I'll probably try and see if I can just snag the Charagumin version then. Time to start saving.

Does anyone have any experience with this website and how good their prepaints come out? The figure is pricy, but if the finish is as good as it looks in those pictures and the video then I would seriously debate a purchase.
