Comentarios Broken figures, re-sales? How do you feel?

  • I did buy a damaged figure here on MFC in the past. I already had that figure but it was missing a part so I made a good one out of two defective ones.
Also I can totally see myself buying a damaged figure if I think I can restore it to a satisfying state.

It's perfectly OK to sell a broken figure on MFC, as long as you're upfront about it.

They are fantastic for customization because you wouldn't want to mess with a figure in good condition. And a great option for people who wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise.

dollbynhace 1 año#65541695I bought ITEM #236248 with a broken sword, but I don't mind it as everything else looks great. Might try and clean it up one of these days.
I'm actually okay with some damage as long as I didn't cause it, or else I feel bad about "ruining" it, lol.

    That IS a sweet figure!

GOD1hace 1 año#65541689Lol same I'm a perfectionist. I just received my figure earlier as the seller said the box is opened and inspected for some damage for the box has arrived dented and it's like a C box, to me it's a super damaged box. I offered the MSRP price for the figure and the seller accepts. But the thing that bothered me isn't the damaged box or the figure. It's the smell of the box when I opened it. It smells like chemical or something or smokey smell. The figure isn't opened though so I guess it's an okay price.

Hahahahaa, a smelly box, that's super odd, dude.

Anyway, I am a big fan of Mandarake pre-owned, but only unopened. I can deal with scuffed boxes though, I store those away. How ever, I would have been wondering wtf happened to it if it smelled like mold or deep fry kitchen. :D

yaibahace 1 año#65541682I buy figures that are labeled as "junk" from YJA all the time. I'm sure there are plenty of people doing conversions etc. who pick these up. But depending on the type of damage and the particular figure, only 50% off is probably more than I would pay for one.
Ah, I see, this is valuable information too. I'm not one to overprice. I'lkl of course try to be fair about the sale in question.

But I see where you're coming from. The reason I was mentioning the MFC shit was that when I got her, she was mint in box, but had a scuff on her right arm, like.. You know.. She had.. Not a paint transfer, but like, while she was drying, something might have pressed up against the right arm and scuffed up the paint job. But obviously it's on the back so it can't be seen when she's displayed.. Then I, myself, was disappointed that she was leaning af, so I grabbed her and tried to bend her torso back a little, to see if I could get her to stand up a little more, and her foot snapped clean off. When I did that I couldn't believe what I had just done, lol.

Luckily she is wearing these ankle plates on top of her feet and the feet snapped under the plate so it can't be seen but.. It's annoying, you know? And I can't get the foot to stick cause I dunno what kind of glue to fix PVC with, the one I got doesn't seem to stick what so ever, so the foot just falls off again when I try to sit her onto the stand.

But yeah.. I dunno, she was 90 something bucks and I damaged her more than when I got her. I'm disappointed in myself the most tbh. Can't believe I tried to flex her.

I'm a bit of a cheapskate, so I personally don't mind buying a damaged figure for that big of a discount as long as the damage isn't obvious from a distance. Besides, as someone who isn't the most careful when handling figures, it's kind of reassuring to know that it's not in perfect condition to start with. I'm pretty sure that as long as you're very specific about the item's condition, you won't run into problems with buyers.
