Thanks for this story. I'm still learning which online shops are "safe" other than the most well-known ones, and sometimes information can be scarce. I haven't ordered through them, but it's really good to know that they don't handle these types of things well, particularly considering that some figures have common defects. I've read multiple complaints about Io's pigtail being broken (which worries me since I'm planning on purchasing her after my next paycheck), but I'll make sure NOT to buy her from NY at least. I hope this type of post doesn't get taken down because it's important for those of us who are beginners or trying to branch out to other options when the main shops don't carry rarer figures.

One rule I've followed with shops I've never ordered from before is to buy something cheap for starters and see how it goes, and order from them again if it goes well. You brought up such a good point that it's when things DON'T go well that really tells how good a store is. It's made me a bit wary, to be honest, but in an expensive hobby with fragile objects and tons of bootlegs, wariness is pretty vital. Thanks for writing this, and I'm sorry you had to experience that! I'm happy you were at least reimbursed for Jibril.

(On that note, I'd be interested to hear if anyone has had issues with Ninoma and Goods Republic. I have made small purchases without issues from them, but I'd like to know if they will solve real problems when they occur. I can find next to no information about Goods Republic, but I haven't tried researching Ninoma.)

Yeah, although people have been using them more recently, it’s still known that they’re pretty shady if you actually need to contact support.

I used to use BiJ then switched to NY because their parcels go through Osaka instead of Tokyo and would arrive so much quicker but I’ve recently switched back to BiJ unless it’s for an exclusive. Just not worth the risk of having something go wrong with them.

So, one of your items came broken, one box was damaged, and then one package didn't even show up? Everyone's issues with N-Y are often the same, but no one ever bothers to mention what shipping service they use. I get the feeling that people are cheapening out by using uninsured methods. I've purchased 1 direct order and 2 indirect orders (paid for 2 user's pre-orders) from N-Y so far, all three being EMS. It astounds me how customers can have starkly opposing experiences from the same retailer.

I completely understand your irritation with NY. I'm one of those lucky ones who is still satisfied with them, but I'm fully aware that a day might come when I'll hate them just like you.
Yet, I once had a problem that was solved in my favour (I was actually pretty surprised). I usually choose unreg SAL for shipping, because reg is not available to my country so even though it's available as an shipping option on NY, I don't even bother trying. The day has come when they finally shipped a long awaited ITEM #492251 my way. After 3 months I lost all hope that I'll get her. Since I used unregistered method I knew the fault is all mine. But than I got a message from NY - they got the package back! I was ready to pay for the shipping again, but NY stated that it was sent back, because registered SAL is not available to my country. I wrote them back that I'm sure I chose unreg SAL and I never got any tracking number from them after they shipped the package for the first time. The very next day I got shipping notification and even 250 yen refund that I could use on my next order. I suppose they checked it and came to conclusion that they were at fault - lucky me.

NY is shady as fuck.. i only use them because i can buy with the transi logistic option... here in europe i dont have the time for custom... shops like amiami have to much shipping costs and im absolutely no friend of the SAL shipping option..

edit: the other problem ist that they are the only good shop for limited and exklusives... yes thers Big in Japan too.... but you have no pay later option...

Edit: I was thinking of the wrong store, I was mixing up NY with NS. So my comment is irrelevant.

I'm not defending NY in anyways but for the first one you should've just contacted GSC instead. Just show them a picture of your receipt and the broken figure and they would've sent out a replacement ASAP with 0 hassle.

I had the same issue (lost figure) and after contacting NY multiple times without any result, I filed a claim on Paypal. Got my money back the next day without any issues.
Of course, I got banned from NY as well but honestly, I don't care

Almost a year ago, I was desperately searching where I could buy ITEM #551719 since I didn't want to proxy her (too expensive, and required payment upfront) and she was only available at the Dengekiya website. So I looked around, and saw that NY had her for sale. It was either them or none, but I was super, SUPER reluctant to shop at NY, and I am so glad I didn't because Amiami had her up for preorder just a few months later.

I would have rather not gotten Maru at all and waited for her on the aftermarket than use NY, and that's coming from someone who's never used the site LOL. I don't even want to try, since I've read SO many horror stories like this.

I wish I could have read this before placing a pre-order with them. Unfortunately, what's done is done, and the figure is a Native exclusive, so NY was the only other place I could find it. But thanks for the warning; I hope I have better luck with them.
