Heliodora (hace 28 días) #33007126I think a large customer base for NY is from EuropeYes, I'm aware of the TL option. I do hope for you that some other retailer will suggest it in the future.

PanchitoMatte (hace 28 días) #33006166So, one of your items came broken, one box was damaged, and then one package didn't even show up? Everyone's issues with N-Y are often the same, but no one ever bothers to mention what shipping service they use. I get the feeling that people are cheapening out by using uninsured methods. I've purchased 1 direct order and 2 indirect orders (paid for 2 user's pre-orders) from N-Y so far, all three being EMS. It astounds me how customers can have starkly opposing experiences from the same retailer. You're right, I should have stated that all three orders were shipped via an insured option (SAL small packet registered). Indeed, this provides a firmer stand to my claims. Thanks~
Also, as I wrote in the post, the problem starts when there IS a problem. I doubt NY will treat one better if he\she uses EMS or not (and yes, I did get a damaged item via EMS before, not from NY though so no problem).

SuperMilk (hace 28 días) #33005605I'm not defending NY in anyways but for the first one you should've just contacted GSC instead. Just show them a picture of your receipt and the broken figure and they would've sent out a replacement ASAP with 0 hassle.Oh wow, thanks for the info! I didn't know she's related to GSC, her MFC page only states Phat as the manufacturer.

Beruru (hace 28 días) #33005425I wish I could have read this before placing a pre-order with them. Unfortunately, what's done is done, and the figure is a Native exclusive, so NY was the only other place I could find it. But thanks for the warning; I hope I have better luck with them.As I said, it basically comes to whether you'll have a problem or not, thus having the need for support. Rest assured that the chances of a problem of any kind with a single order is minimal, so I wouldn't worry too much. It's only when you order a lot (from a certain place) when statistics starts to play against you.

I've never had this happen to me, but I've always been kinda wary of Nippon-Yasan because of those stories. I even went to a more expensive site to pre-order a limited edition scale, because I didn't wanna get a bootleg.

I only go to them if I want a figure that's already sold out most places, since they often got the figures a few weeks/months after they're sold out everywhere else, or (don't tell the law) want it to be undervalued since I can't afford to always pay the insane extra tax amount. (Also, it's mostly them undervaluing the item, and not me asking.)
I've never tried to buy a full scale figure from them, I honestly don't trust them enough for that type of investment.

I recently bought the Nendoroid Tinkerbell, ITEM #549137 and Nendoroid Ariel ITEM #549133 and have still gotten no update on them... (No tracking, but I still paid for quick shipping, and it's been 2 weeks late now.) Currently still assuming it's the slow postal service, but I'm slowly getting nervous.

I've slowly started switching over to using FromJapan for more or less all my purchases from Japan.
Sure, I'll have to pay up-front, but with the new import fees introduced where I live, it's better to get 1 monthly package rather than a bunch of smaller ones.
NY have been my go-to place for many years now and it's worked well until recently.
I might keep using them as a last resort if I have to.

I think a large customer base for NY is from Europe, since we don't get to pick and choose which shops we wanna buy at for a decent price. When I started collecting I bought everything off of HLJ, AmiAmi and HobbySearch, I had to pay 20€ extra for every figure that arrived thanks to customs. I later found BIJ and NY, I mainly used BiJ because their prices were good then NY added Transi-logistic shipping and I've only used them from thereon out. I am afraid that something might happen one day and I can't get support from them but I mainly buy GSC figures anyway and they have awesome direct support.
If any othet shop added transi-logistic shipping I'd probably switch in an instant.

Thanks for this story. I'm still learning which online shops are "safe" other than the most well-known ones, and sometimes information can be scarce. I haven't ordered through them, but it's really good to know that they don't handle these types of things well, particularly considering that some figures have common defects. I've read multiple complaints about Io's pigtail being broken (which worries me since I'm planning on purchasing her after my next paycheck), but I'll make sure NOT to buy her from NY at least. I hope this type of post doesn't get taken down because it's important for those of us who are beginners or trying to branch out to other options when the main shops don't carry rarer figures.

One rule I've followed with shops I've never ordered from before is to buy something cheap for starters and see how it goes, and order from them again if it goes well. You brought up such a good point that it's when things DON'T go well that really tells how good a store is. It's made me a bit wary, to be honest, but in an expensive hobby with fragile objects and tons of bootlegs, wariness is pretty vital. Thanks for writing this, and I'm sorry you had to experience that! I'm happy you were at least reimbursed for Jibril.

(On that note, I'd be interested to hear if anyone has had issues with Ninoma and Goods Republic. I have made small purchases without issues from them, but I'd like to know if they will solve real problems when they occur. I can find next to no information about Goods Republic, but I haven't tried researching Ninoma.)

Yeah, although people have been using them more recently, it’s still known that they’re pretty shady if you actually need to contact support.

I used to use BiJ then switched to NY because their parcels go through Osaka instead of Tokyo and would arrive so much quicker but I’ve recently switched back to BiJ unless it’s for an exclusive. Just not worth the risk of having something go wrong with them.
