Comentarios VAT & Transit-logic

  • kinhace 5 años#19738093I've been receiving packages from Japan for more than 10 years and only four times have I received my package within a week w/o custom. Each time I pay €40-50 for customs + wait 2-3 weeks. Even when I ask my proxy to write down the value at 7000Y do they hold my package (and around €23 customs) I don't dare value lower because I don't need any noisy people to open it and see the actual value inside.
    That sucks :(
I've never had a package opened except for one when the 'value' wasn't clearly written so they opened it and stamped a value of 22 euros on it (for lack of better knowledge?), over which I had to pay tax. I don't think the people who work there know a damn thing about how much figures are actually worth, so as long as the value and the contents ('used collectible toy' lol) are clearly stated, they don't open it, is my experience.

Reading these comments I'm feeling lucky even though I pay VAT almost for every package... But I only had to pay 15-16€ at most, maybe because I only use SAL Registered and buy mostly nendoroids. Though customs here hold my package for 3 days if they won't make me pay VAT or about a week if I'll have to pay it, it seems :o No more than a week usually though (let's hope this comment won't destroy me in the future) and that's for expensive stuff (over 50€ of value).

Josinehace 5 años#19738054Seriously? When I get charged customs (use SAL) the tracking shows it takes no more than a day extra to reach me (as opposed to not getting charged)

Vodkanrollhace 5 años#19738061Sure. I'll update this issue. But meanwhile would be useful if everyone check their orders and complain opening a ticket in the store.
I have and my two orders so far have been under the 20% VAT. I'll let you know if I can change my shipping choice and if they get hit with customs or not (and if it will cost me more than transit)

SAL is a hit & miss for me sadly but I'll try it again next time when I order something with my proxy.

YuRiPahace 5 años#19738050Doesn't the VAT rise have something to do with the VAT in France? Since I believe NY ships these shipments to France, and doesn't France have a VAT of around 25%? Maybe this is why?

It could be, but his don't explain why they vary the %VAT between different orders. Also, a few hours ago, they answered that the VAT apply is 20%.

Thats's why I use their own answer to request an inspection over the maths of my order.

kinhace 5 años#19737885Every time I have a box arriving and I pay ems it takes me up to 2-3 weeks to get instead of 2-3 days because Dutch customs love to keep me waiting despite me paying the most for fastest way to get it then smacking customs on top of it :))))

KiruKiruhace 5 años#19738038Pretty much sums up the dutch customs.. they love keeping your stuff hostage despite paying for fast deliveries. :/

Really? My packages from Japan are always only kept in customs for a few hours, mostly when my packages arrive in NL I'll get them the next day. *knocks on wood* (Must not challenge karma of course now, hehe)

Every time I have a box arriving and I pay ems it takes me up to 2-3 weeks to get instead of 2-3 days because Dutch customs love to keep me waiting despite me paying the most for fastest way to get it then smacking customs on top of it :)))) So that's why Transit-logic is handy for me too, if I'm gonna pay the most for it I want it asap too and not wait 2-3 weeks.

But I do have two items that aren't figures that I might ask NY to change shipping method if they'd allow that :/

broken-Toyboxhace 5 años#19736185Well for Germany that calcualtion would be failry accurate since every order above 150€ does get hit with customs (i think it's something around 6% not exactly sure though), 19% (for every order above 22€) would be the actual VAT. Maybe it's similar for you, not sure where you want your stuff shipped too though.

In this particular order, it could be the case because exceeds the threshold of 150€, but, take a look at the previuos order (A) it also exceeded this threshold and rhe VAT is below 20%. Also take a look at orders B and C. They are below the threshold and the VAT exceed 25%.

Because of that I have my doubts.

Bloempjehace 5 años#19736067I used it ones for a 1/4 fgure. It would have been cought by customs such big box with low value. So i did not take the rist and go for this option. I also paid in euro (maybe off topic, but paying in euro is more expensive than paying in Yen, so i rarely do that) I have noticed that things go wrong but since i suck at math i just left it at that it was already a steal but i don't think i will use it for a simple 1/8 figure it must be a 1/4 to use it. Goodluck on having them solving the issue, Ny never helps it seems.... frustating sometimes.

And me too, I only use Transit-logic for big boxes (1/4 scales) or when I save money combining with other orders. Also when I would pay an extra around 10€ but it compensates the delay of SAL and customs delays. In the must cases, I save money using Transit-logic instead using SAL and Custom fees and Taxes.
