Comentarios Strike Witches: HS vs AmiAmi vs BiJ

  • ffenrishace 6 años#2198627Yeah, I tend to use HS most of the time as well. Their processing speed is a little slower than AmiAmi, slightly better packaging (oh the over-sized AmiAmi boxes), but where they win is that HS are miles ahead in customer service -- their support staff are just awesome.
In this case, I got Mio from BiJ and Perrine from HS. I've been ordering more from BiJ recently -- while their email response time sucks (horribly understaffed, but when they do eventually respond, the interaction has generally been good), I like their packaging, and I also like the fact that they are willing to mark down the value on the customs declaration.

That's what's always kept me more loyal to HobbySearch. They're very responsive and open-minded when it comes to their customer service. They respond quickly and are willing to work a little bit to resolve issues.

I've never ordered from BiJ before. That may be due to the fact that I've never had to worry about customs duties or taxes. I'm in Sweden right not for the summer, but I'm still sending my figures home to the States when I order them. It's mostly because I wouldn't be able to get them home very easily, but also because Swedish customs charges 25% in taxes for any package that's shipped here from a purchase.

spasepeepole026hace 6 años#2198601I've bought a lot of witches, and all my new ones have come from HobbySearch. They have always exceeded my expectations in terms of packaging, processing speed and customer service. They always make sure my figures are safely shipped to me, and if I ever have questions, they always respond very quickly. All of that peace of mind is worth the small differences in price.
I get all of my preowned stuff from AmiAmi but I prefer HobbySearch on most occasions because they perform exceptionally every time I order from them.

Azyxhace 7 años#1580192You can't use U.SAL with BiG (well you can when it's under 5000), so it's +410yen if you don't mind using that, which make them higher then everyone if you consider same fees for shipping (which is probably not always right).
I always use registered SAL, so this isn't an issue for me -- my faith in the postal system only goes so far!

DonkeyBlonkeyhace 7 años#1579406If you have orders in Amiami around the time of this figure's release, I would go for AmiAmi.
Combining shipping along with the little amount of points obtained in my opinion is the way to go.

Combined packages (with their larger size and higher value) are I believe what got my AmiAmi packages flagged on the customs radar in the first place, alas. I had a couple of large ones come in together which had duty levied, and all my AmiAmi packages (large or small) after that :(

In any case, most boarders seem to have had positive experiences with BiJ (I also checked the shop review forum). I'm going to go with the vote and get these witches from BiJ. If I have a good experience with the Nyaruko-san figures and Mio, I'll start looking seriously at BiJ as a source. They aren't across the board cheaper -- several figures on my to-get list are cheaper at HS once you factor in the points -- but the deals are definitely worth checking out.

Big In Japan has become my favorite figure store; some of their discounts are more than with AmiAmi (albeit sometimes for a limited time), they always honor my lowering request regarding custom value to the value I ask them (which is always below the threshold) and most preorders can be paid later with Paypal (except exclusives, which have to be paid right away).
The only thing is that you can't wait too long with preorders at BiJ because with popular ones, preordering closes pretty quick sometimes.

big in japan has always been great to me. they are the first shop i've ever ordered a figure from and i still continue to buy from them today. their customer service has been great, and their responses are always quick when it comes to things like asking for my invoices early or combining orders. they're also one of the few stores that lower the declared value on the package and mark as gift. i've really never had a problem with them, so i recommend them wholly!

xcupidxstuntxhace 7 años#1578988The only pre-order BiJ hasn't managed to fulfil for me was Miku 2.0 but I think that was an exceptional case give her popularity. They let me opt out of being put down for the June release, too, which was great as I'd actually been having second thoughts about her xD
All of my packages from BiJ have come through customs with no charges. I heard they've marked people's customs forms down even without being asked, too.

Thanks, both points are good to know.
