Pictures stolen by pirates!!Pictures stolen by pirates!!Ask MFC

Hello, MFC.

I found my pictures featured on the infamous Wish in September last year.
No links I don't wanna give the Chinese pirates a single click rate.

They ripped off my China Dress girl articles to promote counterfeits.

That is devastating. I loved sharing my hobby but not for illegal dirty businesses.
I'm thinking of not producing any content anymore due to such pirates ruining what I done to the community.

That makes me think twice, should I filter my viewers?

Don't tell me to stamp watermarks, they'll just crop the corners.
Only if I put watermark on the faces/boobs that would stop the pirates.
But what's the point if I need to kill your joy to prevent piracies, right?

Or should I move out to some other restricted platforms, maybe ?

Do you guys have any suggestions??

That's rough, but sadly I don't think there's much that can be done. They just steal good looking pictures that they happen to come by regardless of the source.

Not_That_Guyhace 13 días#90033210It is terrible that your work ended up being stolen. Personally, I wouldn't allow a few bad apples to ruin it for everybody. Don't let the few speak for the many as they say.HassySodahace 13 días#90034256As much as it hurts, there's only so much you can do to counter thieves. Everything that can be done you already thought of. Eventually you have to either quit because of the low percentage of thieves or accept it, report them, and keep doing what you love.
People stole my art and put it on tshirts and sold them. One got really nasty on me it was really awful. But I can't quit art over it. Not for parasites like them.

Thank you, guys. I'm really thinking of counter-measures that won't kill my joy on doing reviews.

Painshace 13 días#90028971Does Wish allow outside sellers (like Amazon, etc)? You could just report the page, it usually works. I get my ball-jointed doll photos stolen for recast pages all the time. I've stopped caring. It's better to focus on being creative than hunting down all these pages.

I think Wish is turning a blind eye as Wish is the hub of pirate products...lol

funwarihace 13 días#90028666It is unfortunate but I hope that doesn't stop you from doing what you like. NOT taking pictures of your figures isn't going to stop bootleggers, they will just find other images to use.
We're all smart enough here to not buy the fakes, and whoever is dumb enough to buy them will be sorely disappointed they did not get the figure shown in (your) pictures.

Thanks Funwari. If they just use official product shots I won't get mad.

Since MFC restricted NSFW content to logged users , no guest views is a restriction already,
I don't get the exposure I previously have. And returning viewers are mostly long time readers anyway, thus, I'm more into a restricted platform to share my work.

TheInsanePenguinhace 13 días#90027011I don't think it's anything you should stop doing what you enjoy or have a moral crisis over, they needed a good looking picture to sell their fake and if yours weren't there, they'd just use someone else's. Anything with good intentions can easily be misused, but it's on the fault of who's misusing it, not whoever created it in the first place. Image theft for shady shit is inevitable so the best way to combat it is to keep people aware of how to spot these fakes, reverse image searching, asking for dated pictures, etc.

Thanks for taking me to the positive side.

NekoNicoRobinhace 13 días#90026989Hmm my only idea is to either 1: post less and 2: post figures that dont have counterfeits -- so mostly figures from older animes
So sorry this happened to u :o I mean the problem is the interest is a vast place so if not your pics someone else will be used.
Can also make a private instagram account as well.

Thank you. I'm looking for a good restricted platform.

Okenohace 13 días#90026876You don't lose copyright and it's not public domain just because you posted it online. It's just ridiculously expensive and difficult to enforce your rights, particularly across borders, that your average person can't afford to protect their rights.

Exactly, as long as I'm not doing photography for living, there's noway I can afford the cost to protect my so called rights.

RPG_FAN128hace 13 días#90023904Sounds like a case of 'public domain' issues. (My cousin is a lawyer so she is always quoting famous cases and stuff haha) Once you post something to the internet (or social media) you really don't have any control over it any more.
The only solution is not to post.

Thank you. I'm aware of ppl downloading my stuff. And I previously said users canuse my photos for self-entertainment.

But No one really want their works go to illegal IP breaching fake fake products.
Everything I can tolerate but not piracies cuz I dun want my fds come to me and say " Wow, Are you selling counterfeits now?? "

I dun feel good to have any linkage with illegal businesses. That's why I'm sad.
