  • The problem with FOTS is they don't use PVC ,instead they use PMMA (a far more brittle substance, much closer to resin) or they slightly chemically-altered ver of PMMA, they call PVC-L(ike). This us most-likely a polymer mix of PMMA with another more elastic material to create this, to reduce the brittle nature of the material. The problem here is that there are quite some issues with this approach;

    First and foremost manufactoring cost should be much lower, yet prices are not significantly lower compared to similar PVC figures from diffenrent companies.
    Secondly, because the result is less flexible is allows for less room for error in the manufactoring process and increases the chance of badly fitting parts and seamlines, meaning a stronger QC process is required to maintain standards. They tend to be hit-or-miss in this aspect.
    Thirdly the material remains far more fragile than PVC, which shows when they use this material for small pieces like hair(e.g. twin-tail strands) or accesoires, which often arrive broken.

    It is good to see they finally started using a propper packaging material for brittle material like polystone or resin, instead of the normal plastic inserts they used before (which is the industry standard for PVC figures). Sadly these kind of materials rarely survive a long SAL travel.

    I find all of their practizes misleading and too much like playing russian roulette.
    Which is a gash darn shame, considering they managed to get some licenses from great artists and exceklent sculptors.

    I'm happy your Chloe survive the journey undamaged and you found a way to enjoy her, despite her flaws. Maybe stirr away from FOTS and their PMMA and PVC-L material in the future if you wish to avoid such apparanr flaws in your future figures. I recon those lot will always be a bit of a gamble.

    FOTS, Insight, Pulchra, Apricot Blossom, and Figure X were all owned by B'Full (parent company). They now merged into B'Full. Buying figures from these companies is liked gambling. Their figures have many issues with painting, soft legs, and broken parts due to poor packaging and poor manufacturing. When you shop on Solaris Japan, they explicitly said that about 70% of the figures by this manufacturer break due to poor manufacturing. Please be aware that the risk of this figure arriving broken is high and you will have to fix it yourself. They cannot offer any refunds or other compensation for any damages.
    If you really want a figure from them, I would recommend getting it from the aftermarket.

    Honor_HandHace 2 meses#79493387Chloe is my favorite girl from Fate/kaleid, no doubt, and this figure you have here is one that is sadly missing from my collection. I love these swimsuits and this cheerful pose and expression are just perfect for me. I haven't made my move on getting this one because, well, it's a bit expensive nowadays. Plus FOTS seems to have this bad reputation around here. I can't say for myself. I recently purchased ITEM #740996 , so I'm hoping to evaluate their quality myself soon.
    As for that detail on the base, I know that feeling. My ITEM #397024 has pretty much that same issue going on, in that, for whatever reason, the pegs won't go inside her paws all the way. Which makes the figure appear to be floating ever so slightly over her base. Eventually, I convinced myself it was just a small defect, and that the rest of the figure is just great everywhere you look. :3
    Anyways, thanks for the review. It was a nice read and very informative. ^_^ A few more pictures would have been great to go with the text. It'd have given us more of a chance to marvel at how cute Chloe looks in that sukumizu too. x3

    Thank you for your reply. I had more pictures taken, but they were really out of focus for some reason; I've been using my phone camera so far, but when I was taking the pictures for this review, I thought "I need to use a standalone camera", which I'll be doing from now on. It's an older Canon but I hope that it'll suffice until I get a newer one.
