  • Oh man those colors on the bootleg...would have been so pissed if I had accidentally bought that one. The joints especially...

My most favorite game of all time! I was having trouble finding an official Pyramid head for a decent price and almost caved on the bootleg, but managed to find a real one for sale a month later! looking at your side by side pics I'm glad I waited to get an official one, I couldn't do big P like that lol!

Like you mentioned, there are even worse bootlegs out there, and now you must find them and review them!!! I cant wait for another episode of "Official Vs. Bootleg", keep it up dude!

Nice review. The problems with the coloring/painting on the bootleg should be apparent once it is assembled but I agree that it is much less apparent if you are judging the figure while in the box. The joints not matching up in color on the bootleg is a huge flaw IMO.

ZoidsFanatic2Hace 1 mes#79217022Man... that bootleg just doesn’t look good. Makes me glad I got the original when I did. Bad thing with the bootleg is it looks pretty legit in the box and as someone else said, an inexperienced collector likely wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Until you pull him out of the box
    Good comparison!

Yeah, this bootleg ain't any replacement for the official. Can imagine a collector feeling like they got a bait and switch with this one. Thanks.
SkaylerOtakuCatHace 1 mes#79184016I really love these comparison articles, they really show off the bootleg from each and every angle.
Bdw, every time I see this character on the internet, I am laughing from the fact that they actually named it "Red pyramid thing" XD

Thanks :). I find it a fairly accurate name :P. Doing some reading up, apparently it's an artefact of translation - the original script was Red Pyramid Head, but the translator changed it to "thing".
galablueHace 1 mes#79182960The box looks like it could fool an inexperienced collector ... but man, that paint job on the bootleg!! It is terrible.
Just wondering, what do you do with all of the bootlegs you collect? Do you just toss them or do you modify them, or do you have a shelf full of bootlegs?

Yep, big "Expectation vs Reality" moment awaits anyone opening that box.
The bootlegs I have mostly transferred into a plastic storage box:

I have done some science on one of the upcoming figures (undressing it, really) and pulled off one of Touka's wings (was going to do both, but I ended up having to go do something before doing that). Future experiments may be pending depending on time and will.
YunhoralkaHace 1 mes#79167260I'm so jealous of that original! You'd have to be super lucky to find him for that price nowadays.
Yeah, after coming back from Japan, I found his price had gone up - for the longest time his price was pretty low, but it did eventually rise I guess. Is one on Mandarake at ¥5.5k atm, most of them look to be ¥7k though, which is a bit of a price hike.
Is-It-FakeHace 1 mes#79166031I regret staring at the pictures while eating my lunch. The official look icky enough, but the bootleg made me wanna puke lol
Anyways, this is another nice review from you :D

Bootlegs and lunch don't mix! :P. Thanks.
