Kotobukiya blocked proxying and forwarding on their JP ShopKotobukiya blocked proxying and forwarding on their JP ShopNews

Pretty much what the title says.

Kotobukiya didn't announced this via their regular news but via their online shop.

shop.kotobukiya...

This affects all orders from November 2019 onwards.
You should recieve a message from your proxy or forwarder about this issue if you placed an order for an item which went up this month.
Some commenters confirmed that their orders made prior to november got sadly cancelled too.
Please contact your forwarding or proxy service to confirm the status of your orders.

The main issue behind this is the licensing of their products which is only valid for Japan.
I imagine this is mostly an issue with Boku no Hero Academia, which is limited in it's release through distribution by Takara Tomy anway, but it will also affect every other kotobukiya shop exclusive including their own lines like Cu-poche or Frame Arms Girls, which have koto shop exclusive releases or bonuses added and possibly cancelled.

While the KotoUS Shop exists they can't offer everything, like Azur Lane's Kaga and Akagai with their bonus faces or the limited Centaur, to name some recent examples.
The reason is understandable but not having a viable alternative will sting and people need to rely on the aftermarket, which can be a nightmare for popular series.

Edit: I edited the line after "This affects all orders from November 2019 onwards." It read a bit to ambiguous, the announcement did not stated that orders made before that date will be affected.

Edit 2: since people commented that their orders made prior to november got cancelled i edited the sentence again.

Ordered ITEM #860766 from KotoJP in December 2019 with a proxy address and it got cancelled on pre-order closing date. Very unfortunate...

spiderman555Hace 7 meses#72817473I don't think this has something to do with licensors as all the figures I ordered from Kotobukiya with a proxy were canceled, and 2 of those were the Kakegurui figures. Perhaps you got lucky, or your proxy did some workaround to circumvent it.Oh I'm sorry to hear that. It looks like the proxy ban is indiscriminant then. Yumeko ITEM #604194 in the same order ended up getting fulfilled so it looks like that one order just ended up getting lucky, since I've seen other people post that their FromJapan orders were cancelled. This whole situation is so sad.

I made a 2nd order at Nippon-Yasan to test if they were still able to get Koto exclusives but so far my order still says pre-order even though Yumeko's been out for a while now. Has anyone else's NY order for a Koto exclusive survived recently?

darkroseblastHace 8 meses#71506100My FromJapan proxy order for ITEM #805827 managed to slip through, she arrived yesterday with the bonus. I ordered back in June, but I don't think when an order is placed has anything to do with the likelihood of cancellation since it'd be easy to just cancel any order right before shipping preparation. I feel like this crackdown is probably the result of 1-2 licensors complaining, as opposed to Kotobukiya's decision. And Kakegurui's licensor may not care if foreigners have access to the bonus versions or not.
I ordered ITEM #604194 in the same transaction so I'm hopeful that will also make it. If not I bought a back-up at NY just in case. Hopefully at least one order survives and I could try selling one if both go through.

For those checking in a month later.
Kotobukiya is still cracking down on orders, a friend got their forwarded order cancelled the other day which was made way back in summer.
So it is possible to still recieve a mail of your order ending up being cancelled.

Add the Kamado siblings to your figurine collection! Pre-order ARTFX J Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado through select Kotobukiya distributors to receive a free bonus face part.

*Check your favorite distributors for availability.

Anyone notice which distributors now carry the free bonus face parts?

This whole situation is just absurdly dumb. Nevermind exclusive faceplates, they even have some exclusive figures there sometimes and now it's pretty much impossible to get them without having to pay through the roof because of scalpers.

I'm on my last straw with Koto, they make good figures but their business practices just make me really displeased. Even if they made their exclusives available to their US/EU store, there are still many places that wouldn't have access to it, like those from SEA.

I've already lost some money no thanks to PayPal fees when I initially paid my proxy and then got refunded yesterday. If another proxy I'm trying doesn't work out and neither does Nippon-Yasan or CDJapan, RIP I guess, looks like they won't be getting the extra money I was willing to give them since the base figures w/o exclusives are so much cheaper.

SakuraUchihaHace 8 meses#70300419Firstly,I feel sorry for everyone who was affected by this however I have a question. Does this affect us who buy from stores like AmiAmi for example? or just those who buy directly from their store or through proxy. I'm almost certain that it doesn't affect official retail stores like AmiAmi, because they probably have all this licensing thing worked out already for the products they sell. So, if an item is Kotobukiya Japan exclusive, it wouldn't be available at AmiAmi in the first place.

SakuraUchihaHace 8 meses#70300419And,can we still purchase their items even if its without bonus/exclusive stuff? From my understanding, I think you can't buy anything from their store through proxies nor forwarders. They said in their statement that all orders with a delivery address of a proxy or forwarder are affected, so I think the ban is general.
