Nendoroid #826 Kono Suba Yunyun w/GSC Bonus ReviewNendoroid #826 Kono Suba Yunyun w/GSC Bonus Review

Thanks again for all the positive feedback on my reviews so far! To see my past reviews; click here: profiles.php?us...

Finally getting a few new figures, so I can start doing some more reviews again. My next reviews might not be until August though, as I have nothing on order until then...but who knows what I will get between now and then. So onto the review! ^__^

From the "Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o! / Kono Suba" anime, this is Nendoroid Yunyun (with bonus):

Each photo can be clicked on to give a full-size view of the image, even if the image itself doesn't display.

Here's her in the box:

As #826 in the Nendoroid figure series, Yunyun is the latest in the ever-growing and increasingly popular Nendoroid figure series! She is far behind her friends from the series; Aqua, who was #630; Megumin, who was number #725; and Darkness, who was #758!

Following the new trend with Nendoroids, Yunyun comes in the new much smaller, more compact, standardized box. She's got most of her parts displayed in the window as well as the figure itself. It also has all of the normal information on it, like the series logo (in the top left corner), Good Smile Company (GSC)'s logo (top right corner), and of course the figure's name, number and image on the bottom.

There is also a GSC bonus with this release; which I will cover in more detail at the end of the review.

Back of the box:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725513.jpeg

Yunyun is actually (more or less) a side character in the anime, "Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o!"; which is often abbreviated as "Kono Suba"...so it's strange that she would get a Nendoroid release, especially before the 4th member of the main 4 people, Kazuma, gets a release!

Just like the front of the box, the back has all of the usual information, logos and images that have become standard to Nendoroid figures recently. The background for Yunyun's box is pink with magenta-ish and orange-ish circles around the images; perfect to contrast against her color scheme (hair and clothes).

She comes with a decent number of parts; so most of her poses and accessories are shown here on the back of the box (or on the sides).

Instructions:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725543.jpeg

Keeping up the standard (as it is now) of Figma and Nendoroid figures; Yunyun's instructions are in both English and Japanese. The English is on one side, and the Japanese is on the other. It is the same on both sides, otherwise.

The instructions show all of her parts, including the standard how to change the face parts directions and how to brace the figure on the stand directions.

There are no special parts with Yunyun, so they don't need to be featured in the instructions, like with some Nendoroids.

Parts:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527726460.jpeg

Yunyun comes with a good number of parts; both for her body and accessories. Here's the list:

View spoilerHide spoiler-- Yunyun herself
-- Standard Nendoroid base with stand
-- Extra joint part
-- 2 alternate arms (bent elbows)
-- 1 alternate holding fist
-- 1 alternate pointing hand
-- 2 alternate faces
-- Basket
-- 2 alternate legs (bent knees)
-- 2 waving arms
-- Instructions

Also there is one more part, but it's not included in the plastic inner core. Instead this one is actually only available if you ordered the figure directly from Good Smile Company (during the pre-order period). This extra part will be covered in more detail at the end of the review.

Out of the box:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725521.jpeg

Yunyun comes ready to go out of the box once her protective plastic pieces have been taken off. She comes with her normal expression in place as well as extended arms. She is also wearing her normal outfit she always wears in the anime.

The most interesting aspect of Yunyun is that her ponytail tips and hair ornament are all removable. Her belt is also loosely put around her hip. There are several pieces of plastic around her waist (in different places) that need to be removed before the figure is ready to display...they are somewhat small and easy to miss.

As with all Nendoroids; the arms, hands, and legs are interchangeable and very easy to swap out with other arms, hands and legs. The same holds true for the face and the base as well.

With Basket:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725524.jpeg

Yunyun only comes with a few accessories and alternate parts, starting with a basket of food. It seems to be fruits, with bananas easily identifiable in it.

There is a hand with a holding opening in it that can be used to hold this basket, but it is only for her right hand. The basket can also just be placed on the base next to her as well.

Bent knees / pointing hand:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725538.jpeg

The next accessory she comes with is a pointing hand. This can be used in virtually any pose, but works well with her walking and also with her rival (more on that later). The pointing hand is only for her left hand, however.

She also comes with one set of alternate legs, with bent knees. These are great for dynamic poses or making it look like she's walking along. As with most Nendoroid legs, they have a slight angle to the inner thigh, showing which leg is which.

Alternate face and arms:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725526.jpeg

The next main accessory with Yunyun is one of her alternate faces, which is a shy/embarrassed face. As she was often embarrassed in the anime, this works well for her.

A good accessory to go with this face is the two bent elbow arms. The shoulder pads actually stay on her for the straight arms and the bent elbow arms, so only the bottoms need to be changed out.

Flailing arms / alternate face:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725529.jpeg

As seen the anime, Yunyun has a pair of arms that mimic her arms flailing and waving about when she is frustrated/really embarrassed. These arms are one piece, with the shoulder pads attached (so the regular shoulder pads need to be removed to use these arms).

She also comes with a third expression, a whining/crying one. This face works best with the flailing arms.

With rival Megumin:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725644.jpeg

Kind of an odd rivalry; Yunyun wouldn't be complete without her "rival" Megumin. This is also where the pointing hand also can be used effectively, having her point at Megumin with determination.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725641.jpeg

And while she can't slap her breasts like in the anime; Megumin can at least touch them; making Yunyun freak out in despair. It works best if both girls are on the same base and without Megumin's hat on, due to the short nature of Nendoroid arms and large nature of their heads.

Good Smile Company Bonus:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725519.jpeg

As mentioned previously; the last item to talk about is the Good Smile Company bonus that comes with Yunyun! It comes in a sealed black bag; similar to previous GSC exclusive bonuses in the past.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725531.jpeg

It comes inside a small plastic inner bag and protective bubble wrap inside the plastic bag, and with a small set of instructions as well.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527727818.jpeg

The actual bonus is a set of bunny ears for Yunyun! These are pink in color with a clear band to go on her head. They come with a set of instructions as well; which are separate from the regular figure's instructions (as these are specific to the GSC bonus):

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725540.jpeg

In an unusual bit of Engrish for Good Smile Company; the top reads, "Regarding Online Benefits", instead of something like, "Online Pre-order Bonus" or something.

Putting the ears together is very easy though, with them sliding snugly onto the clear plastic. The plastic is a bit thin and weak, but should be sturdy enough for taking on and off of the figure multiple times.

GSC Bonus; in use:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725534.jpeg

It's a nice bonus accessory; giving her something to make her look very shy and cute overall.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725593.jpeg

And since it simply slides into the slot between the front and back halves of the Nendoroid's hair, the bunny ears can work with any Nendoroid (in this case, Megumin).

Overall:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/MetalSamamon1527725716.jpeg

Just like all Nendoroids, Yunyun is another really a great example of the kind of quality, detail and complexity expected from Good Smile Company with their Nendoroid figures. Very cute and accurate to the anime, she's really nice! Great accessories and posing options; she is quite fun!

The best aspect of the figure is the GSC bonus, actually. It's nice if you want to give any of your Nendoroids cute bunny ears with no worries about having to modify them to fit onto other Nendoroids. It is a universal fit, so it works with any of them easily.

There's not a whole lot more they could have done with Yunyun...I think they got pretty much everything for her. However, a "GSC bonus base" could have been included too; to match the previous 3 Kono Suba figures, who each had one. Also still not a fan of the smaller boxes for Nendoroids now; but that is just something I will have to live with.

But overall this is nice figure! Worth picking up; with or without the GSC bonus; especially to complete the KonoSuba girls. Next in line is Kazuma...I just hope they make a Nendoroid for Wiz!

Recommended for everyone. Lots of play value and display value with a bunch of options.

Thanks for looking! Feel free to comment and I hope you enjoy the review! Be sure to check out the other reviews here: profiles.php?us...

MetalSamamon (hace 28 días) #37597041It's not a bad thing to be on vacation, but I like to review the figures right away when they come in (or as soon as possible). I have 3 of them coming in while I am away, so the reviews would be very late on them...and a lot of people wouldn't need it at that point (as they already decided if they want the figure by that point or not).

Ah I see! Well, I am just too delayed with both unboxing a reviewing I never worry about things like that. xD Only when I notice one figure already has a ton of reviews, I will keep the review more simple or make it a picture-display only blog. :)

MetalSamamon (Hace 1 mes) #37420264Yes, I am very happy with the bonus too. ^^ She is a cute Nendoroid. I do have the next one in the series, the school version of Megumin, but I can't review it yet as I am on vacation out of the country until August. T_T

eviljackspicer (Hace 2 meses) #34901801I was disappointed that the pre-order bonus was not a birthday party table with no guests attached

That could have been an interesting bonus! I guess there were some other options I didn't even think of for Yunyun, then. Thanks, eviljackspicer!
