Great Figures, Amazing Service, Fantastic Price!
MaakieMaakiehace 3 años
Recently my image hosting decided to call it quits without informing me. This caused all my blogs on MFC to have their pictures gone.

Re-uploading and re-linking all the images is a long task. If you are reading this and are interested in the blog below, please leave a comment and I will give fixing that specific blog priority.

Thank you for checking out my blog!

Hello and welcome to one of my cosplay blogs! Considering the positive reactions on the last blogs I made from my Chi-Chi BLOG #24852 and Elizabeth BLOG #20041 costumes, I decided to write a more detailed blog about this costume too! The character I'm talking about is Lilith Aensland ENCYCLOPEDIA #4551 from Darkstalkers/Vampire ENCYCLOPEDIA #236 !

http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/capcomdatabase/images/6/68/Darkstalkers3Lilith.png

Why Lilith?

My first introduction with the character Lilith was when I got an unexpected trading figure from her ITEM #4074 as a bonus when I bought a few other figures. I instantly fell in love with her character design. I personally love vampires/succubi, loved how bold the colors of her outfit were and I thought she had an incredibly adorable face!

Years later I played the game Darkstalkers/Vampire for the first time and I liked that too. As I like to play fighting games, the Darkstalkers games are nice to pick up every now and then for a few fast-paced battles. I was very happy that Lilith also turned out to be one of my favorite characters to play fighting-style-wise.

Making of the costume

The making of this costume was very special to me as it also was for me the first time "really" meeting and working together with my friend CYREN ! I originally met Cyren here on MFC about 4 years ago. We immideatly had lots to talk about and exchanged e-mails, Skype, were on chat for hours and so on. I never before had with someone that I met online that I could talk so much! I guess we just instantly became (online) friends. We both have invited each other over multiple times, but considering the huge amount of costs that come with it to visit someone on the other side of the world, it took this long before it could be possible. I ended up going to Cyren's place last summer where we worked on the costumes and did a photoshoot together! This makes the costume extra special for me.

Just like my previous cosplay blogs, I will talk about everything piece-by-piece and not chronologically. Cyren and I did the shopping, patterning and desiging together, but made sure we made the costumes individually from eachother, because of competitions we were planning on entering where everything needs to be fully made by yourself.

Back wings

The first and for me most important thing I wanted to tackle were Lilith's back wings. Considering the huge size of these wings and their placement (lower back), this was quite a challenge!

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-bWlG3f0UlHI/VjJ88yFwKQI/AAAAAAAAEIU/UAr6FWfyxCc/s912-Ic42/IMG_7538.JPG

We started off by designing how the wings should look. We lay down on the floor next to our sketches to see how the sizes would be in comparison to our bodies.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5tJOYWAqeAs/VjJ884n1_bI/AAAAAAAAEIY/jK-6kOyBfw0/s912-Ic42/IMG_7539.JPG

After we were satisfied, I started working on the materials. The wings were made out of very lightweight, but sturdy and compressed, foam (the type of foam also used as protecion material in for shipping). This foam only comes in small squares, so I had to put them together to make big plates. After that I pinned down the pattern for the wing and it could be cut out.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-oZZk_1L7XFg/VjJ8_cEMUxI/AAAAAAAAEIw/1xJFVQqeumk/s912-Ic42/IMG_7542.JPG

After a little bit of sanding on the edges it looked pretty good quite easily!

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--hbT_jNPNq8/VjJ-GR69y1I/AAAAAAAAENE/sgGihCvVU3Q/s912-Ic42/IMG_7941.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-wjq_PnCvqVg/VjJ9ZP2S_jI/AAAAAAAAELM/Kb48CvtIWV0/s912-Ic42/IMG_7964.JPG

For the wings we thought it would look the best to use fabric. This way the wings would also match very well with our bodices. I sew the 2 colors fabric together (front and back of the wing) and left a small spot open te push the foam in.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2gUUI8YQBVM/VjJ9Z9FnlVI/AAAAAAAAELU/RG5VIJ4Lt6I/s912-Ic42/IMG_7965.JPG

Then, by hand I sew front and back together and also sew an edge for both detailing and more safe closure of the seams.

Joking of course, but I got so much crazy deep papercut-like wounds all over my fingers of all the handsewing. It hurt like crazy for a week! You have to suffer to be pretty in the cosplay-hobby...

I always think it's pretty funny how only a little bit of detailing and ironing the final product can make something look so much better! View spoilerHide spoilerSmall spoiler for the bodice in the picture.

Head wings

After all the working on Lilith's back wings you would almost forget she wears a second pair of wings...on her head!

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-cjjzyZKdis4/VjJ8-gK6YtI/AAAAAAAAEIo/7LfkyoZm8KY/s912-Ic42/IMG_7541.JPG

Also here we started out with a pattern.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ntDelSmEHgw/VjJ9AB7eW-I/AAAAAAAAEI0/ULZR8b9mIX4/s912-Ic42/IMG_7546.JPG

Because these had to be placed on my head, they had to be thinner and more lightweight. I went for regular craft foam for these and glued 2 layers together to make it more sturdy. View spoilerHide spoilerThe bat shape you see lying below is the pattern for the symbol for Lilith's tights!

I worked with the same method for the head wings as I did with the back wings and started measuring and cutting the fabric for them.

Wig

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nHObeP7Uo6A/VjJ9OAhekWI/AAAAAAAAEKA/KSHIj6Hi4Lk/s720-Ic42/IMG_7954.JPG

Lilith has a very short, but also very cute haircut! I started off with your generic unstyled China wig (of which I loved the color).

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-HDY_-o8joHo/VjJ9PbC566I/AAAAAAAAEKE/ebgT04JU3LA/s720-Ic42/IMG_7955.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EtGWoemCPwM/VjJ9QgVJM5I/AAAAAAAAEKQ/rYvcOIyaQlo/s720-Ic42/IMG_7956.JPG

Bangs and overall length are always the parts I tackle first.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-bSf_uKavV3w/VjJ9RshMXxI/AAAAAAAAEKY/AypLjkD-YXg/s720-Ic42/IMG_7957.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-P2ZX4xtEc24/VjJ9SmY0MTI/AAAAAAAAEKg/3J5Z7hOp6n4/s720-Ic42/IMG_7958.JPG

A big plus with short wigs with simple styles is that it looks good very quickly!

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--ftWtW0eb0I/VjJ9TQLk7FI/AAAAAAAAEKk/ZeOjhLHUY-g/s720-Ic42/IMG_7959.JPG

I made the bangs stick together a bit more...

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ah41Ad2YWrA/VjJ9UXT273I/AAAAAAAAEKs/8td_NGa87xk/s720-Ic42/IMG_7960.JPG

...layered the hair at the sides...

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-sSdmcn4VqvY/VjJ9VbQdyBI/AAAAAAAAEK0/VOUZBS_ugq4/s720-Ic42/IMG_7961.JPG

...made the back a nice, round bob-cut...and done! I'm pretty happy with how this simple wig styling worked out!

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-MSFDgVMbd1w/VjJ9kYKF6EI/AAAAAAAAEMc/1YpMsGzyUlY/s912-Ic42/IMG_7977.JPG

I attached the earlier made head wings on a transparant/invisible headband. This headband can be easily hidden inbetween the thick hair of the wig and it can also easily be removed again. At first we thought headbands wouldn't work well and would be too visible on the wigs, but the effect was a lot nicer than we initially expected!

Gloves

I forgot to make progress pictures, so there are only 2 quick shots of this part.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-JlxIVoWLNjo/VjJ9WzWAgtI/AAAAAAAAEK8/h27eaFNAeeo/s912-Ic42/IMG_7962.JPG

For the gloves we chose for a very stretchy fabric which we cut to our arm sizes. Then a quick sew through the sewing machine for the edges and one main seam and it started to look pretty good very quick!

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2Et6kW0qSyU/VjJ9YZ4quTI/AAAAAAAAELI/MUVMn5G1n60/s912-Ic42/IMG_7963.JPG

The only part of the glove that really connects to the hand is a small "ring". For this I used a hair elastic which I resew by hand and attached to the glove. And boom! Gloves done! I wish that gloves were always this easy with costumes!

Bodice

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-bazEdcOOdHs/VjJ9fQcDLjI/AAAAAAAAEL4/ZHZXNBbeXdA/s640-Ic42/IMG_7969.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-dcZeaIwUfkQ/VjJ9gNrj64I/AAAAAAAAEL8/DhL2i8nZh1Q/s720-Ic42/IMG_7970.JPG

Cyren just made a corset for a previous costume, which was a very easy start for the bodice! Even though we have very different sizes, I could alter her patterns to my size and I made a little bit of extra fabric at the bottom so it became a bodice.

The velcro on the back is one of the parts where it holds the back wings. with the full costume worn it's held together with velcro and the sewn-in underwear in the bodice.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-thpjBpNSaJM/VjJ9i_4wl5I/AAAAAAAAEMU/kBboZgV7-Iw/s720-Ic42/IMG_7976.JPG

The bodice is quite low on detailing (main point of attention was getting the size right, which is harder than it looks). One of the hardest decisions was the cut-out square Lilith has on her bodice. Considering the underwear I would have to wear with this costume, it would be near impossible to make a real hole in it to make it look good. So we ended up going for skin-color fabric for both our costumes (which meant a heart for Morrigan) and hand-sew them on.

Another detail we have taken a long time on deciding was the "sleeves". In some artwork it looks more like feathers, while on others it's a fluffy boa. We saw that other cosplayers were also really mixed in what method they used. We ended up preferring the fluffy look and bought a thick boa which I also handsewed onto the bodice.

Tights

A very well-known part of the costume, that I had to put down very well, are the tights with bat-shapes.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-u3159gAGxdo/VjJ9hBkZr5I/AAAAAAAAEMI/sOGdxhn3tek/s720-Ic42/IMG_7972.JPG

An earlier pattern I made for the bats (see the earlier pictures from the back wings) I used to make the bats on the tights. Cyren came up with the idea to use hairpaint as she used that to color fabric before. With Cyren wearing the tights I sprayed the hairspray on. It looked interesting, but wasn't "popping" enough for us.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2FQaPJwNAI8/VjJ9iM0q5iI/AAAAAAAAEMQ/geC6ElftR9s/s720-Ic42/IMG_7974.JPG

While wearing the tights myself, I used fabric marker to trace the bats and draw more attention to them. After that (not pictured) Cyren wore the tights again and I fixed the small painting errors that had occurred because of the pattern shuffling a bit.

Photoshoot (Florida)

My debut of this costume was together with my friend Cyren in Florida. I did a try-out at Chibi Pa Sampler, wore the full costume at Tampa Bay Comic Con and we did a private photoshoot together. Here are some of the results!

Then the photoshoot with Cyren came up and I'm really happy with the results! You can really see that we used the same materials and techniques, what exactly the plan was!

This is probably my favorite solo picture, because it reminded me of ITEM #1771 (even though the pose and outfit version is not exactly the same).

Making version 2

After my Florida experience, I went back to the Netherlands with this costume in my suitcase. Because we made these costumes in quite a short timespan, they were far from perfect. So I decided that before I would debut my Lilith costume in the Netherlands, I would make some improvements. Most of these were for strengthening the outfit and improving the fitting. I also decided to enter a local costume competition, so I made a prop to go with this costume.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ChF4HLttFUGjjDr8jWztvCwyaDT2Vrc_ibvGWDP5gQZdLMfSgymMwfIDnGAQmq4ckHOqBHMWKZc1PPt6zWjRVmqnb8yOc01Ruxee0Z--8xhlDz6jR4hETlDg8ERjLcaEedDNV5QEu9Njzx3Fk7I6PYKEPC5-FFZy25wGS6hR7W687c7c_Fn-FacuON3IP6xv3Y42GGWPvV-uYFgokAgwcDoE-7ulAnFDAkX05h9inxCYiX6gDeg-Dlzyzum0GW8stbtfDDO0Ugxd6IZhe7OwyrTC6ZByZ1NXBTNSdRfUJm9vHTPTiAAtnWdIv-DbK-6zaS62-g_ND1k6dIEN8cKFSeXsi-B79oSro5gpmcxtXOZrKM-QNbcWDVo2WIKrEF9mfoBZYt0vKNThM3nkguQkcqHFYMzzDPiHcgyGctWqmxfO4nSUUgH3320mZDJ3i_0dDQXIwyAZT4XNm5_7KG1TrKoY-t35wlq8OmMHaoNVHa9Yu4IfdBro4nWDgjoq53Hs1M5_siupTm4_-Ns0xh2gGu86k46KwCCpmBCrRS2hApQRLwaaVWMLgaNoLLQGFbm-r6v7mpvtTvx10dJmVCTp6P3iVPiqIEDuPCzeufkTs8NV8O7x=w1295-h971-no?.jpg

I started off with improving the fitting of the bodice. I wanted it to be more tight-fitting. As maybe you have also seen in the pictures above, the outfit is not completely symmetrical, so I improved this too.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/WybxtNji_QZbDgj3wTLivtrOW9KlroBlYBEPSXSYZTY--HJ1RxISH0Xodve4tiEi0lJ310uT4OP6GP_bHME3p6FxM6MC0nwiScLyp3SG_eoomRd8UtYtd88FxLzucCOm0pQ9uO3HExai6wQRk6dZJCdHL8Fx_U-gSAH9VqDySEP9tNerrYshqp8uWHYiDOVBPAyRb0yMErZHx3eY-vqrq6RTTVfc9UrsZr54NXsrxAbQvkybMuo9-pELkRfiB6JDrfFq09xkXuGA9wbwb7v7WswyeXXfemXYqpMG3g4IPHvTZfyUoas6JXc5pKTKI6ek5qbud5A7RLartZCObUDnEo5NSJWBXp2P2Rk1rECQ8HdSa6JXb4o8qnwzrE5RZ97oBmgayu2nxyjoxSqeSYbc_fB7iLVxLilG7lqBAWThJk-rcAis1LFgGwjcqZGldKKMr6ND1ZONJ291fOA8JsazJDtQVhhSFmzFXFAUatdMQpfrK2KmNouo6RWmkcWLUqfjQrvKHcEYlF0zt0TMqaO5zz3_R94gluHXWmgfMQMReveUjFNKUQR5Cba2GJZ9en5ffo4Sz2Dp2aMVT95iCObRpXn-jSCHJwqCDZa67GWpB2ERj5Ut=w729-h972-no?.jpg

I also worked on improving the 'fluff' on the bodice. This is a really weak part of the costume that easily falls off, as it's so hard to sew. I also removed and re-did the skin color part (not visible in this picture).

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/MKoiBfRZP00aoERtL-_ujtQPCU5DRb4qQoG36pjTXH71mKtttY95pKPEH-NFQSW4FAJ1inj6g41B_B27ZYclJQmgWlECOLL1WUmySHXD8WKZ-rSMLZhJyRRN1cVbQ5qAQWRKo98PO3S7tFgDz7xiYBaEI3f0vIjMwen907myrILszx2B8r_Zzggr6XYaDmZbvTFYLo8i4Iojpi-cx0oqoZoWGiAWq65Vbf9yspk_yjyorgI-3H1rr3vaJuzvwJLmfz_oaITJ0aWHLl2bqyMxZL7c7u3IZ3HW9xt4bAuyEmFCa8dKMg8dEXw0MVjaOmUe4Lhr7i-W7a6VSbNfh0ofauY8GeLlgUyOvu5qGFlBnZsXVzQPEYQ1qMmd2fNEOR1rYBQXC-wNidQbeF1JsHlR28bN_tvBkgd5kR9ftuYItMFLL58ReeHLtXEM8CDb2TVNr7lMCP27MMlSLoj7KRvoUHaqeEv1Ks9AvWK9Gtb6j9puekWo7WHl2hWoyaq4BMh5u9YQuPCC0kI6UgQEhP27sxaPzndT0zXx3_VhwF5gMUIA0SfFoHxoQqmryjbX9bJMftsH2NdaahJCmzzXURWSe8Xi4GllsQJBZ_Izxvp7oJkz6tHf=w1295-h971-no?.jpg

The wings needed some improvement too. Especially in the connecting part they needed more sturdiness and stability.I managed to improve this pretty good, if I say so myself, haha!

Finally, I wanted a stage prop for my act. I already had a small idea for an act and I also wanted something cool that has lights. So I came up with a small bat companion for Lilith.

It's a really simple construction with my own design bats, an empty christmas ball, "invisible" fishing wire, some small LED lights and cut-up old ugly curtains that were left by the previous owners of this house I'm not joking about that last part.

I was surprised and very happy with the final result myself! Simple use of light can make a prop look very special, really easily!

And with that, my version 2 was finished and I was ready to enter the competition!

The competition

A video of my entry you can see below. I decided to edit two different recordings, as the first one shows an overview and the screen (which was really important in my act!) together, while the second one focusses more on me and you can make up my expressions better.

As expected, I did not win anything in this competition. The costume is too simple/small to go up for big prizes. I decided to enter anyway, because I had this idea for an act and wanted to show some good memories I had with this costume (all pictures used are from when I was in Florida).

Photoshoot (the Netherlands)

Directly after the competion I met up with a photographer to make some new pictures of this costume, below are my favorites from this shoot! Photo credits for Winterman Photography www.facebook.co... .

I'm expecting to get more pictures and also upload more of them soon on my website!

So, what now with this costume?

I will wear this costume at some more Dutch conventions, but I am not planning any more improvements on it. Lilith is very fitting character for me (I especially love the wig), so maybe I will also make a cosplay for some of her alternate outfits in the future!

Future cosplay plans

The next big cosplay plan I have been working on for a while now. Because of it being such a big project, I inbetween did some smaller costumes and I am also working on a J-Fashion coord (menhera/gurokawaii). I currently don't have much free time, because of my busy job, so this will be a really slow project. I do want to enter a cosplay competition with it, once it's (almost) finished. I'm not planning on entering the big competitions this year with it (if I did, that would mean my deadline is june 2017 and I'm not going to make that with this outfit).

So, to finally answer it and keep you guys from getting impatient: My next big cosplay project is Calne Ca (Nurse version) from Deino!

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-0si7uUs4spo/VHeHeVtEjwI/AAAAAAAACXw/M0BKrEPQk38/s720/IMG_3017.JPG

Yes, that is this thing! Working on this cosplay is an incredible amount of work, as there are so much small parts and different aspects to it. But I'm really loving working on it! If you want to see what I have made so far, you can check the pictures here: www.cosplay.com...

I hope you enjoyed and to also see you at my next blog! Which will be another grab box blog!

MarionEtxhace 3 años#17289190Motivation seems to be a common issue, and it was definitely an issue with our first group cosplay, which ended up going from 7 to 2 people, with the 2 of us finishing a year apart because I made mine but my friend decided to buy hers (nothing against buying cosplays though).
We don't have any pictures to show because we do characters from different sources, but this year we are working on our first mini group cosplay of Yuuko and the black and white Mokonas from xxxholic. I'm super excited for it so hopefully we can finish on time.
Ah yes, I meant Europe is great for general travel, but I agree, when it comes to Japanese culture-related events, it does not seem as 'exciting' as those in the US. I did see your blog when you published it and I got second-hand embarrassment just from reading it; how awkward! However, we've definitely had our fair share of such moments in my city too, so that's why I don't go to local cons anymore; Sakura Con in Seattle is my annual pilgrimage.
Thanks for checking out my cosplay; I'm very shy about my work so your comment means a lot :)

Yes, over here there are a lot of cosplayers that get excited about something, start on it...and drop the project with 10% of the costume finished... Then I end up doing the costume alone or in a smaller group. Last time I tried to do a group, we should have 9 people and ended up with 4 (me and my husband included, the other 2 were also a couple...). The group I set up before that should have 6, we ended up with 2 (me and my husband). So depressing...haven't tried to set up a group now in 3+ years...

I really don't know how our more popular cosplay groups do it over here. I guess they live closer to each other and push each other more. The only person I can actually trust to also show up in cosplay is my husband, because I make or buy his stuff and take him with me to conventions...pfffft!

Btw nothing wrong with buying a cosplay as long as you're honest about it. :) Because work on my Calne outfit is going so slow, I have been thinking of maybe buying a small cosplay inbetween, so I have something new to wear, while I can keep on focussing on working on Calne! ^^

Oh! That is so cute! The Mokona's will be gijinka's or mascot outfits?

I went to two cons in the US and I was amazed. All the European cons I've went to are nothing in comparison. But! The smaller and more cozy atmosphere of our cons has it's charm too~ Especially if you go to cons for a longer while, you know so much amazing people you end up seeing regularly. :)

I don't expect everybody to speak perfect English in other countries, but a basic conversation wasn't even possible. :( That reminds me I didn't even share to most awkward thing in the blog: When I wanted a rest, I ended up sitting on a staircase in a big area where others were relaxing too. Very shortly after, a con staff member spoke to me, really stressing and spoke very fast German. I tried (in my best German) to ask her if she could say it in English or speak more slowly. The con staff ran off and came back a few minutes later with another member that did speak English. Turns out it was not allowed to sit on the specific staircase where I decided to rest and I should pick another staircase... Couldn't they just have said something like "Not this staircase", "Sit over there *point*" or idk, just a few basic English words so I understand? D:

Aww. Well I started out like that too! For many years I didn't ever put a picture online from my cosplays. Even now, I censor my face when showing WIP (I'm not very recognizable with heavy make-up compared to my regular look). Maybe someday I will post everything uncensored, haha.

You just keep on going and make cosplays that make you happy! :D

Maakiehace 3 años#17245390Ah, a bit of skill level difference, I wouldn't mind with that. It's more motivation problems with most people around here...
Do you have anything to show for your group project(s)? Or does everyone work individually?
And yes and no to that! Haha! What I like with Europe is that with a short amount of travel you can be in a completely different culture with another language. The downside is that a lot of events are small (nothing compared to the US) and it can feel pretty alien to be at a con "close by" where you don't speak the language and thus, don't understand the events mostly. I made a blog about the first time when I visited a German con if you're interested in what I mean: BLOG #26938 On the other hand, it's also nice, because a con in another country feels like a small vacation!
I'm really impressed with the wings and the dress is also super nice! Thanks for the explanation! :D I hope you're also pleased with the project too! :)

MarionEtxhace 3 años#17180202Yes, I am lucky! Although our skill levels are very different so I'm kind of teaching them how to sew (at their request, and they are compensating for it in various ways). I think you're a bit better off in Europe in that you can easily visit many very different countries whereas it's only easy for us to visit the US, which isn't so culturally different from Canada (though yes, we are different in many small ways).
Thanks! The main bones are flexible copper piping, and the white parts have 12 gauge wire just along the top of the shape. They are actually quite light so I only used clear bra straps to attach them. I hardly felt them while wearing them, except when people bumped into me or it started to get windy. The wings actually help to hold up the dress (like suspenders) because it's quite heavy! I made the mistake of making it out of velvet, thinking I wouldn't feather the whole thing, but then I continued and it became super heavy so it put a lot of strain on power mesh. It was quite a design and construction challenge because of all the negative space and weight.

Rajkehace 3 años#17180212Really nice cosplay of Lillith. I didn't expect that making the wings take so much effort. And i really want to see your Calne Ca cosplay when you finish it. The pictures in the link to the cosplay are looking great and you even think about the small details that you can easily forget. The jaw looks awesome.

Thank you~

Especially finding out how to properly have the wings placed, while still being able to easily get myself in and out of the costume was a big puzzle!

I'm really excited for that cosplay too! It's soooo much work! I'm sure the end result will pay off! :>

Muntoehace 3 años#17180224This was really cool to read. I really liked seeing all the WIP photos since I have zero sewing skills. The final costume came out great and you both look adorable so great job! Meeting online friends is always weird at first but I feel like a lot of people express themselves pretty similarly in real life so it's easy after a little bit hehe. Hopefully you two can meet up against soon :D

This costume was mainly a hand-sewing hell, I wouldn't recommend a beginner this outfit, even though it looks so simple, haha!

If you want to get into sewing, I recently made my first pleated skirt and it actually was a lot more fun and simple than I expected! You don't even need a pattern to make one! It's just measuring, ironing and a simple stitch on a sewing machine! ^^

I've had lots of different experiences meeting people offline that I met online. Most of them were indeed great, but a few a bit awkward, haha!

I hope so too! I wish there wasn't just this thing in life where everything revolves around...money >:(.

Thank you for liking it! :D

Maakiehace 3 años#17168723Ahh, so jealous! My most close-by friends to work with on cosplay are just as far away as visiting a con...so it's quite a hassle to team up with them or work together. I do talk a lot with them online. :) There are also lots of duo competitions over here, but didn't manage so far to find someone local that wants to go through all that effort together with me (in a scenario where both parties also make their fair share of the outfits of course, because I had "offerings" where people were expecting me to also make (almost) all their stuff >.>).
I'm jealous on how cheap it is to travel within the US or from Canada to US compared to getting from and to Europe, urghh. For the costs of a 1-person plane ticket to Cyren, my husband and I could have gone on 3 1-week vacations (including hotel, food and plane tickets) within Europe!!!
Your wings look good! :D I also had to look up the front of the outfit of course, haha! I like what you did with Homura's top of the dress, looks really hard to hold everything up, so the skin color fabric seems like a good choice! Were your wings heavy? They seem to be made from a kind of metal from the pictures (?).

MarionEtxhace 3 años#17158988I'm lucky that my friends live in the same city, so we work on our cosplays every few weeks, but we usually travel to the US for cons because they are bigger than the ones we have here in Western Canada. Maakiehace 3 años#17157971 Thanks! <3 I think it's the haircut, I used to have likewise haircuts with my actual hair like that in the past too. :)
It was an amazing chance that was a lot of coincidence that it could happen! I hope I can meet up with Cyren in a few years again! Plane tickets to outside of Europe are just so crazy expensive, even when flying out of season. :(
It's nice you have cosplay friends like that! :D They live close to you?
And wow, Akuma Homura! There was a local cosplayer who did her outfit and the wings she made were huge! I guess yours were huge too? (You have a picture? :) )
I'm also really stoked about Calne! So many small parts and different techniques~ It's Elizabeth BLOG #20041 all over again! My blog for Calne will be WAY longer than this one, haha!

I mostly write reviews for this blog, since I like to read and write those kind of articles the most! I also think of them as very useful for other collectors and Japan enthusiasts!

Next to that, I also write tutorials for GK's, loot blogs, cosplay and convention-related articles and guides for hobby-related subjects...just take a look!

I hope you enjoy my articles and feel free to rate and leave comments! :)
