Custom shelf GOODSMILE Racing : Work in progressCustom shelf GOODSMILE Racing : Work in progressDiary

Hello MFC folks !

It's been a long time since I've started my project for a GOODSMILE Racing customized shelf for my race queens figures... And to be honest, that's because I've been a complete lazy bum °-°'

More than a year ago (what a shame) I've posted a blog to ask for help about the rear wing from GSR's BMW z3. You can still see it (and my 1st plan) here. Since that day some things have changed on my project. First, the wing will not be based on the same model for obvious lazyness reasons. I've decided to go with the 2014 version that you can see on ITEM #210534 simply because it's WAY easier to paint on a curved surface when you pick something simple o3o

I've also decided to put some fancy LEDs on the back. Just because it's cool. And because I can, it's not that hard and quite cheap if you order the parts you need on eBay ^^

Everything described here have already been done, long ago. Then the lazybum syndrome striked me and I've stopped working on it... for pretty much an entire year :/ I can't show you a photo because I've moved a few weeks ago and the frame is still packed, but here is the current state of the project :

(please forgive the poor quality of my sketches)

When I've moved, I've found some old forgotten treasures. Including 2 Pioneer speakers from an old hi-fi system. They're old but the sound is still great so I've decided that they'd be back on business. Then I had the idea to include them into my project. Here's the new updated plan :

(The proportions are really different from reality... fml)

Ofc there will be significant differences between this plan and the finished shelf. First, the speakers looks very different from my awfull simplified representation x) And I'm not sure yet about the colors I'll use, this is just to give you an idea. I'll also probably add some 3D printed logos from GOODSMILE Racing on it, and a couple of small extras. The great thing is that I can use them to add more figures by putting them on the top of the speakers. I'll just have to figure out how to avoid them falling because of the vibrations, but I already have hints on how to fix that issue.

I'd like to know what do you think about the new plan, and if you have helpfull tips or ideas for the painting of the speakers and vibration issue :)

Thanks for reading! I'll do my best to finish the shelf before a year this time xD

Sbabhace 4 años#6987826According to my extremely accurate estimations, "a few months" should be the final delay xD For now the main issue is not motivation or time, but something else... €€€€€€€€€€ :p
I see, good luck for finishing it :)

Sbabhace 4 años#6962253Thank you ^^ It really depends on what you consider being "soon" xD My main concern is to avoid going too far, as if it was inspired by crappy car tuning °°' The project is to make a shelve themed on a racing team, not based on Fast and Furious xD

Lucidreamhace 4 años#6909088View spoilerHide spoilerIt looks really nice and cool. Really would like to see the end results with all the racing mikus on it. I feel like using speakers could be a fairly risky choice, but if it works it'll look amazing.
You probably already know this (but this is all the advice I can really give), use a lot of masking tape and spray paint for the best results on the speakers. It's fairly quick, easy, and looks best afterwards. I'm guessing you should probably put primer on it first and varnish it at the end, but now I'm just stating the obvious. Sorry for being unhelpful :P
It looks great though. Kinda makes me want to try doing something like that too.

Thanks :) I'm also looking forward to enjoy the result, but it will take some time since I have the ideas but there's currently a huge lack of money :p
