Greetings!
Since I noticed that not too many on here had this particular figure, that a review was in order. Which one is that, you might ask? Well, this beauty right here.

Shirahoshi - Figure Colosseum - SCultures - Zoukeiou Chojho Kessen II

That's a long name, isn't it? I remember seeing this announced awhile back, but decided to pass this by as there was a special way you had to go about getting her. Needless to say that when I saw one of these pop up on Mandarake for next to nothing, she was an instabuy. Was she worth it? I'll let you decide. After taking these pictures, I noticed I ended up taking a lot of close ups. ^_^'

First up, the rest of the shots of the box.

The back has something on the sculptor too.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2013/09/10/810453.jpeg

Since this is a Banpresto figure, some assembly required. Not much, however.

Going to get my lone complaint about this figure out of the way early. Considering how delicate the figure itself is, the base is very much a wasted opportunity. While the rock she's lightly sitting on is beautifully painted, the fact that the base itself is so unwieldly and plain detracts from it. If they had done a ripple effect like the artwork on the box, it would have brought the whole thing together. While one could argue that a more fanciful base would take away from the figure itself, the arguement could also be raised that from a composition point of view, all parts of a figure must be taken into consideration. While it didn't translate well in these pictures, it's a bland clear grey.

As for Shirahoshi herself? I gave her the once over and there were not only no paint issues, but the sculpting was very well done.

There's one hole where she rests on her base, and although she might not look it, she's fairly sturdy on it.

Detailing is very good. Her clothing has a delicate shine to it.

Detailing of the hands

You can even see her belly button! Considering the pose, it would have been an easy short cut to omit it, but there it is.

So how big is she in comparison to other figures?

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2013/09/10/810446.jpeg

Answer: not very big, about the height of a figma. On the bright side, base aside, she won't compete for much space. Oh, and even if you decide to display her without that big base, she's not prone to tipping.

Goes well with any other Shirahoshi you might have too.

Thanks for reading! If you see this beautiful mermaid on Mandarake, give her a good home! She'd look great in any collection!

DelicateThunderhace 7 años#1721510Yeeah. When I took everything out of the box, I was happy with everything but the base. Even the POP's bases are more exciting (not to mention having some color) than this ugly thing. This looked like the old bases that Squeenix's Play Arts line used to come with. =_=
Thanks Rai. ^_^

Curse them, curse those ugly bases >.<
and, of course XD

I got mine to balance on just the blue rock! It took a bit of work but the black disk isn't totally necessary if you have something for yowahoshi to lean on!

DelicateThunderhace 7 años#1721506You're going to want to get that POP, she's simply beautiful in person! The POP's on the heavy side though, and does take up some room. Still, a must get!

Glad to know she is gorgeous! We just got some new detolfs and book cases so room isnt an issue atm. :D

Paulichuhace 7 años#1721032I don't know One Piece very well, and never liked what I read of it, but every time I see a figure of this character a little piece of me wants to give in and buy her. SO beautiful. The details in her back might be what sell me on it. They put a lot into her for her small size.

They packed her with some remarkable detail. Very much worth the 1500 Y!

Raithoshace 7 años#1721113Good review format, also really like the pics of all the Hoshi's together. Shirahoshi is definitely an eye pleasing catch and this SCultures one is definitely no expectation to the rule. A great piece, and nice work! I agree with you though... if they had decorated the base like how it appears on the box, that would have made the figure complete. 100% agree.

Crimson_Dragonhace 7 años#1721091She looks much better than I thought! Her face in this particular figure reminds me of Vanille from FF 13.

Mikainohace 7 años#1721160You know, when I read that, I scrolled back up.. and realized you're right, her face DOES give off that impression~ =w=
Great review! I'm actually not a One Piece fan, but I love Shirahoshi xD; Knowing me, I'll end up with a little Shirahoshi shrine. o3o
